Pining / Ranting

We've finished the decorating. During the week that we'd pre-booked off from work weeks ago, and during the week that we would most likely have headed down to Devon to visit family and enjoy the change of scene as we have done around Easter many times before. Would have been a cracking week to go weather-wise too. It'll still be there when this is all over. Just hope everyone is too!

Happy times in beautiful places. Meanwhile, today I headed over to Sainsbury's for the first time since the lockdown started and had a reality check. We've got by with picking up bread, milk and fresh produce from the local Co-op and farm shop for almost a month but needed a proper big (fucking hell £173!) shop. I have not seen such high levels of fuckwittedness since the panic-buying during the week leading up to lockdown. Complete arseholes littering the car-park and petrol station with disposable gloves - what's the point? Besides that, half the people wearing gloves have no idea what the fuck they are doing; notably eating something just bought after doing the shopping whilst still wearing the now possibly contaminated gloves - like they're magically making them immune. People can't estimate distance, two meters is more than two feet you fucking moron. And selfish fuckers can't minimise risk by abiding with the 'one adult in the store' rule making shopping a family day out. Essentially, too many people are fucking stupid. Big shock hey?

This Government is grossly inept and has fucked this right up. The lack of pro-active testing and contact tracing was clear right from the start: without going into detail, and not affecting my direct family, I had the (mis)fortune to know about that from a couple of local cases back in very early March. Austerity generally, and in particular the long-term underfunding of the NHS and care sectors, along with mass sourcing of products from far overseas to reduce costs has bit the Country squarely in the arse. And was always going to with no effective contingency planning completed and implemented promptly when it was clear this was coming in January. Any plan - whether good or ill-concieved - that pretty much relies on the goodwill, compliance and common sense of the mass populace is ultimately doomed to fail. And it seems like the real plan is exactly this. The failure of the people will be cited as the reason for the high death-toll. The failure of the people will be the thing that many can easily verify and relate too, and join in with. The failure of the Government will get lost in the noise, whist we all point fingers at each other for being fucking stupid.

Stay safe and keep smiling .....

You're right, the 'keep smiling' bit just waters it down too much 🙃
