From the garden trap, 05/05/2010

I hate emptying the traps in the rain! Apart from the expected rain, the conditions in the early part of the night were similar to the previous night though the results were not so good.

Total catch was only 16 of 11sp. (125W MV 9 of 7, 80W actinic 7 of 6):
0667 Semioscopis steinkellneriana 1
0697 Agonopterix arenella 1
1524 Emmelina monodactyla 1
1768 Grey Pine Carpet (Thera obeliscata) 1 [first for year]
1834 Common Pug (Eupithecia vulgata) 2 [first for year]
1862 Double-striped Pug (Gymnoscelis rufifasciata) 1
2078 Least Black Arches (Nola confusalis) 2 [first for year]
2186 Powdered Quaker (Orthosia gracilis) 1
2187 Common Quaker (Orthosia cerasi) 1
2190 Hebrew Character (Orthosia gothica) 1
2243 Early Grey (Xylocampa areola) 4

Some apallingly lame pot-handling technique today ensured that I had nothing to photograph: I lost the Grey Pine Carpet this morning in the process of potting it, and a Common Pug this evening when letting it out to take a shot. Arse!

Garden list is now at 52 species for the year, with a couple of pugs from Tuesday night still to check. Clear skies and a bit cooler tonight so I'm not bothering.
