I'd love to see it again, but in the meantime there's some grainy LD footage on You Tube.....

Dance Craze
Anyone else remember the excellent docu-film Dance Craze about the late 70s early 80s Ska revival, featuring live footage of The Specials, The Selecter, Madness, The Beat, Bad Manners and The Bodysnatchers? Great stuff it was, went to see it at the flicks as soon as it was on (cFeb 81 I think).
I'd love to see it again, but in the meantime there's some grainy LD footage on You Tube.....

My favourite ska album from that period was The Beat - the one with 'Mirror in the Bathroom' on it. Great production values and loads of energy. I was always more of a Specials person myself though...
Yes - 'I Just Can't Stop It' was a great album. 'Whine and Grine / Stand Down Margaret' - where are the politically motivated calls for overthrowing the PM these days!?
No fungal suggestions for the last posting then?
I've gone 'fungi-blind' having looked at them so much recently Skev, but when I get a minute I'll have a proper look.
Skev - the mystery fungi... The first is, I believe, Glistening Inkcap (Coprinellus micaceus). The white slimy fungi looks like Porcelin Fungus, although this grows on dead beech and the photo looks as if it is growing out of the soil? Third picture - who knows? Not me. The fourth is most probably Pleated Inkcap (Coprinellus plicatilis). The three pictures all of the same, over the top fungi look like Glistening Inkcap again. Sometimes you need to see the gills and stipe to be sure...
Thanks for looking Steve, I'll check those out. I've got a very long way to go with fungi - I look out for them but so far seem to just find the generally unremarkable and not very identifiable ones!
An awful lot of fungi do not conform to the ideal shape and colour. With age they change, sometimes dramatically! Good luck...
Oh...I love all that, and strangely the beat's - just can't stop it is probably my fave ska album too !!
Brings back many memories... All tho I preferred the exploited's "MAGGIE YOU CUNT !" as a blunt political statement !!
Check it out....

Brilliant Gary - I missed that one TOTP & Radio 1.
Sadly the mad witch is still clinging on.
