This week, I have mostly been listening to ..

Actually, I've been listening to it since it was released in late April. As a (very) long-standing and avid DM fan, I always look forward to hearing their new stuff and am rarely disappointed. This one is definitely more of a grower than having instant impact though, and there are two tracks that I keep skipping (an innocuous instrumental 'Spacewalker', and a crappy Gore ballad 'Jezebel'). So all in all certainly not one of their best releases and probably not one that will bring a new wave of listeners, but I like it all the same.

DM recorded their first single in December 1980 ('Dreaming of Me' - I have it on vinyl). It's about time they got the credit and recognition deserved from the industry. If the fucking Pet Shop Boys and Duran Duran can get the 'Outstanding Contribution to Music' award at the Brits, I see no reason why DM should be overlooked for another year.

Outstanding contribution agreed but not before the Godfather of electro Mr Gary Numan....Or if I am to be honest Kraftwerk should be there before either of them!!

Can't disagree with Kraftwerk. To be honest there are a lot of deserving acts - far more deserving than The Fucking Spice Girls, for instance!

Big fan of DMode...even bigger Numan fan!
Got a 'lot of flack' for being a Gary-man 'at the time'....his live gigs were pretty awesome. When 'are friends electric' was at number one...saw the guy at hammersmith...fuckin 'house came down' big time....great 'tongue-in-cheek' performer.

ps...lurve 'Blasphemous Rumours'....no surprise there then....

Beast wishes....
